MaeAnn（メイアン）先生の「フィリピンのクリスマス」レポート

本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、MaeAnn（メイアン）先生です!
ＫＯＫＯの段取りの関係で時期を少し過ぎてしまいました（スイマセン）が、MaeAnn先生にクリスマスのレポートを書いて頂きました！
それでは、MaeAnn先生のレポートをご紹介致します！
Christmas in the Philippines ～フィリピンのクリスマス～
As early as September yearly, Christmas songs would be playing on the radio, stores would be selling Christmas decors, trinkets and lights. There would be a big star-shaped parol, a native lantern hung outside homes and behind our university’s Oblation statue.
毎年9月には早くもラジオでクリスマスソングが流れ出し、お店にはクリスマス用の飾りやライトが売り出されます。
クリスマスの飾りは、フィリピン伝統の大きな星型のparol（パロル／ランタンの意味）を、家の外や大学にある聖餐の彫像の後ろに吊るします。
As Christmas nears, there are Christmas choral concerts. There are contests in making the best manger (belen), where the child Jesus was born.
Gift-giving is also practiced between godparents (ninong and ninang) and their godchildren, (inaanak). Many companies have gift-giving (monito-monita) among employees.
They award the best Christmas group costumes, decors and group performers.
One time when the motif was “wacky”, my officemates and I dressed up like gift-wrapped boxes.
When the Christmas party theme was “Hollywood”, I came to the party dressed like Alice of Resident Evil.
I was in a single-strapped red gown and boots, and I was holding guns.

クリスマスが近づくと、合唱コンサートが催されます。
また、イエス･キリスト生誕の場面を再現したジオラマ(※belenという名称)を作るコンテストが行われます。
そして、名付け親(ninong and ninang)と名付け子(inaanak)の間で贈物をします。
会社の同僚間でプレゼント交換(monito-monita)をしたりもします。
彼らは、クリスマスのコスチュームや装飾、パフォーマンスの賞を皆で競います。
私は一度、同僚たちと「風変わり」なモチーフで、ギフトラッピングされた箱のように扮装したこともあります。
クリスマスパーティのテーマが「ハリウッド」だった時は、私はResident Evil（原題：バイオハザード）のアリスに扮装しました。
私はワンショルダーの赤いドレスとブーツを身にまとい、拳銃を握ってパーティに参加しました。
Christmas in the Philippines would not be the same without food. Even in schools, we bring food to celebrate. We give each other gifts, too.

フィリピンのクリスマスは食べ物なしでは語れません。
学校でも、食べ物を持ち寄ってお祝いをします。プレゼント交換もします。
また、クリスマスは家族や友人と再会する機会にもなります。
多くのフィリピン人にとって、どこにいようともクリスマスシーズンの目的地は皆それぞれの家なのです。
※belenとは、イエス･キリスト生誕の場面を再現したジオラマのことを指します。
フィリピンでは一般的に用いられる宗教用語です。
フィリピンでは、クリスマスを非常に重要視します。
フィリピンのクリスマスは宗教的な意味合いはもちろんのこと、
普段会いたくても会えない家族や友人と再会し、
絆を深めるための重要なイベントにもなっています。
それにしてもMaeAnn先生、バイオハザードのコスプレ楽しそうですね。
来年のクリスマスパーティーではＫＯＫＯもコスプレしないといけないかも・・・。
