本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、3回目の登場になるLou（ルー）先生です。
Lou先生、フィリピンの新年の祝い方についてのレポートを書いて頂きました。

Traditions on New Year’s Eve ～大晦日の伝統～
New Year Celebration is mostly different from one country to another.
What make them all the same are the fireworks display and the family get-together. In the Philippines, we make New Year’s Eve a little more special by following certain customs and traditions.
Filipinos usually follow these in the belief of bringing prosperity, good luck and happiness in the New Year.
Allow me to share with you some of the traditions our family do on New Year’s Eve.

新年の祝い方は国によって様々です。
同じ点といえば、花火を打ち上げることと、家族が集まることです。
フィリピンでは、伝統や習慣に従って少し特別な祝い方をします。
ほとんどのフィリピン人は、新年に繁栄と吉、そして幸運がもたらされると信じています。
それでは、私の家族にどのような大晦日の伝統があるか、紹介させてください。
New Year will not be complete if we don’t light up a “fountain” or “sparklers”.
We believe that lighting up fireworks will drive away bad spirits and make our New Year blessed.

私たちは花火を点火することが厄払いになり、新しい年の祝福になると信じています。
We wear red colored clothes or polka dots which symbolizes fortune.We also prepare 12 round fruits to symbolize prosperity for the coming 12 months.
On midnight, we open our doors and windows widely to welcome good luck.
Kids jump in the belief that they will become tall.
After all the noise has ended, we gather around the table to pray and end the celebration by eating 12 grapes each plus a glass or two of champagne.

私達は幸運の象徴である赤い服や水玉模様の服を着ます。
そして新しい12ヶ月の繁栄を表す12個の丸い果物を用意します。
真夜中には、ドアと窓を大きく開けて幸運を迎え入れます。
また、背が高くなると信じられていることから、子供たちはジャンプをします。
全ての音がおさまった後、私たちはテーブルに集まってお祈りし、12粒のぶどうを食べ、１、２杯のシャンパンを飲みながらお祝いを終えます。
Ｌｏｕ先生が「花火を打ち上げるのはどこの国も同じ」と書いてありますが、確かに日本のような静かな雰囲気で迎える新年は、世界的に見ると珍しい光景なのかも知れません。
ＫＯＫＯも、今年初めてフィリピンの新年を経験しましたが、非常に派手なイベントでした。日本の新年とは正反対と言える雰囲気でしたが、「新年に幸運を祈る」という行為は万国共通なのかも知れませんね！
