Jemma（ジェマ）先生の「家族と一緒の日曜日」レポート

本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、Jemma（ジェマ）先生です！
Jemma先生、食べまくりのレポートを書いて頂きました。
ジプニーを改造したレストランと、韓国料理の組合せとは、非常にフィリピン的です。
ブログの中に登場するジプニーは、まさしくフィリピンを代表する乗り物です。
ジプニーの走行ルートは決まっていることが殆どですが、マニラでは、その走行ルート上で、数十秒～数分間に１回、ジプニーの姿を見ることができるほど数多く走っています。
それでは、Jemma（ジェマ）先生のレポートをご紹介します！
Sunday with the Family ～家族と一緒の日曜日～
Sunday is family day. And, as a family, we usually eat out and we do something fun together.
日曜日は家族の日です。日曜日は大抵、皆で一緒に外食をしたり遊んだりします。
This Sunday, we decided to have lunch at Gerry’s Jeepney, a small jeepney-themed restaurant located along Maginhawa Street near the University of the Philippines.
The jeepney in the picture is not the actual jeepney where people eat; it is a replica of the original vehicle that serves as a room for big groups.
It is reserved in advance for a unique dining experience.
この前の日曜日、私たちはUniversity of the Philippines（フィリピン大学）に近いMaginhawa Street（マギンハワ通り）にある小さなJeepney（ジプニー：フィリピン特有の小型貨物自動車を改造した乗合バス）をテーマにしたレストラン Gerry’s Jeepney（ジェリーズ・ジプニー）でお昼を食べることにしました。The jeepney in the picture is not the actual jeepney where people eat; it is a replica of the original vehicle that serves as a room for big groups.

この写真に写っているジプニーは実際に食事ができるジプニーではありません。
以前は実際に走っていたジプニー車両のレプリカが、大きなグループのための部屋となっています。
私たちはこのユニークな食事を体験するために事前に予約をしました。
Here are my boys ready for a boodle fight.
(Boodle fight is a style of eating where long tables are prepared and the food is served on banana leaves.
Viands and rice are ready to eat using your bare hands.
Jugs of water are prepared on the side for you to wash your hands before the “eating combat”.
When the signal is given, everyone aims for his/her favorite food.)
これは私たちの息子ですが、彼らはもうBoodle fightの準備ができています。(Boodle fight is a style of eating where long tables are prepared and the food is served on banana leaves.

（Boodle fightとは、長いテーブルに敷かれたバナナの葉の上に食事が盛り付けられるスタイルです。
ごはんとおかずは手を使って食べます。
そして“Eating Combat（食べる格闘）”の前に、手を洗うための水差しがテーブルの端に用意されます。
そして合図とともに、彼らの手は好きな食べ物へと向かいます。）
After lunch, we headed to the university where the kids practiced riding their bicycles.
The Academic Oval at the university is closed to all vehicles every Sunday and becomes a park.
It is open to all runners and bikers of all ages.
We saw people playing soccer and badminton as well as others walking and picnicking.
There was even a couple having their prenuptial pictures taken.
私たちは昼食後、子供たちが自転車の練習ができる大学のキャンパスへ向かいました。The Academic Oval at the university is closed to all vehicles every Sunday and becomes a park.
It is open to all runners and bikers of all ages.
We saw people playing soccer and badminton as well as others walking and picnicking.
There was even a couple having their prenuptial pictures taken.
大学内にあるAcademic Oval（アカデミック・オバール）と呼ばれる遊歩道は、毎週日曜日は全車両が通行止めとなり、まるで公園のようになります。
そして、ランニングをする人やサイクリングをする様々な年齢の人に開放されます。
私たちはピクニックや散歩をする人はもちろん、サッカーやバドミントンをする人も見かけました。
また、結婚を前に写真を撮るカップルの姿もありました。
We went to try this Korean restaurant called Chef’s Noodle for dinner.
I ordered beef and pork bibimbap for two of my kids who love spicy food.
They also love the bulgogi kimbap. For my youngest son, I got chicken katsu which is not at all spicy.
We all shared their signature soup known as the Chef’s Noodle and Stairway to Heaven for dessert.
We ended the day with great food and a wonderful time.
I love my family!
私たちは “Chef’s noodle（シェフズ・ヌードル）”という名前の韓国料理屋で夕食を食べることにしました。I ordered beef and pork bibimbap for two of my kids who love spicy food.

辛いものが大好きな子供たちのために、牛肉と豚肉のビビンバをオーダーしました。
また、息子たちはブルゴギ（韓国風すき焼き）のキムパプ（韓国風のり巻き）も大好きです。
一番下の息子には、辛くないチキンカツをオーダーしました。
また、このお店オススメのスープと「天国の階段」というデザートを皆でシェアしました。
私たちは美味しい食事と素晴らしい時間を過ごし、一日を終えました。
私は家族が大好きです！
フィリピン人は、家族や大人数で食事をすることを重要視します。ＫＯＫＯはフィリピンのレストランで日本人が一人で食事をしているのをよく見かけますが、フィリピン人が一人で食事をしているのを殆ど見かけません。
食事を通じて、家族の仲間の絆を深めているのが、今回のレポートからもにじみ出ていますね。素敵です。
