今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、Johanna（ヨハナ）先生です！
Johanna（ヨハナ）先生、旅行記とは違った、読書に関するエッセイを書いて頂きました。
当たり前の話ですが、フィリピンの方は英語で書かれた本を普通に読みますが、ＫＯＫＯは英語の小説を読むと、見開き１時間くらい掛かる時もあるので、羨ましい限りです・・・。
それでは、Johanna（ヨハナ）先生のレポートをご紹介します！
The Best Romantic Book Ever ～史上最高にロマンチックな本～
Here are some of my books. Reading books gives me tranquility.
It relieves my everyday stress, improves my memory, and gives me more knowledge.
It also makes me feel like I’m travelling the world.
I read different books from genres like mystery, science fiction, drama, and, of course, romance.

私はミステリーやSF、ドラマ、ロマンスなど様々なジャンルの本を読みます。
The latest book that I’ve read is The Fault in Our Stars.
The story is about Hazel, a cancer patient, and Augustus, a cancer survivor and an amputee, who fell in love with each other. Hazel always looked sad, wearing a cannula connected to an oxygen canister, while Augustus always wore a smile on his face.
It was interesting how they complemented each other.
But Augustus had a sudden relapse that eventually led to his unfortunate death.

Hazel（ヘイゼル）というガンに罹った主人公とAugustus（オーガスタス）というガンを患いながらも足を切断して生き残った少年が恋に落ちるストーリーです。
オーガスタスが微笑んでいる時、酸素ボンベにつながったチューブをつけたヘイゼルはいつもとても悲しそうに見えました。
それでもお互いが足りないものを与え合う様子がとても興味深かったです。でも、オーガスタスは不運にも死につながる突然の再発をしてしまいました。
For me, it is the best romantic book written by John Green.
There was even a movie adaptation of it.
I’ve watched it too and I would give it two thumbs up!

もちろんこの映画を見ましたが、とても大満足しました！

うーん、今回のJohanna（ヨハナ）先生のエッセイは、かなり難しい英語表現が使われていますね。ＫＯＫＯは今回のエッセイのような英語表現が、すんなり理解できるくらいの英語力になりたいです。
今回は読書をテーマにしたエッセイでしたが、多くの日本人にとっては、英語での読書は非常に骨が折れる作業だと思います。
しかし大変な分、徒労に終わること無く、着実に英語力が向上する方法でもあります。古典的かつ正統派の勉強法、とでも言えましょうか。
日頃の生活の中に、英語での読書と、オンライン英会話をバランスよく取り入れて、総合的な英語力の向上を図りたいですね。
