本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、Maeann（メイアン）先生です。

松尾芭蕉の俳句
日本で松尾芭蕉という名前や彼の有名な俳句をご存じでない人はいるでしょうか？芭蕉は俳句を最初に大成させた人であり、正岡子規は明治時代になって大衆の間で俳句の人気を復活させた人です。

The poem above dubbed as Old Pond or Frog Haiku has become so popular that there are more than thirty different translations of it in the English language alone.
「古池や…」で始まるこの俳句は非常に人気を博し、英語だけでも３０にも及ぶ異なった訳が生まれたほどです。

日本の皇太子の通訳として活躍したレジナルド・ホーラス・ブライスが俳句に関する本を出版したことにより、たくさんの英語の作家が彼の本を読んで俳句を書くようになりました。
Today, haiku is popular all over the world. A Filipino poet, Rogelio G. Mangahas, first came up with a haiku compilation in Gagamba sa Uhay (Spider on a Stalk) with English translation in 2006. This book was discussed in the author’s poetry class. Original haikus in Filipino were written on calendars, bookmarks, postcards, bags, shirts and mugs.
今日では、俳句は世界的に人気のある文学となりました。フィリピン人の詩作家・ロゲリオ・G・マンガハスは、２００６年に初めて英語で「茎にとまった蜘蛛 (Spider on a Stalk)」という名の本を出版しました。この本は、著者の詩の講義で取り上げられ、カレンダー、本のしおり、絵葉書、バッグ、ティーシャツ、マグカップなどにプリントされています。
How about writing your very own haiku? Wouldn’t it be nice to see your haiku on your handmade calendarsand bookmarks or as a shoutout on your made-to-order shirt?
あなたも一度俳句を書いてみてはどうですか？カレンダー、しおり、ティーシャツを作ってみて、その上に自身の俳句を載せてみてはいかがですか。きっとすばらしいアイデアだとおもいますよ。
