Johanna（ヨハナ）先生の「息子の初動物園」レポート

本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、Johanna（ヨハナ）先生です！
Johanna先生、マニラにある有名な動物園に行ってきました！
この動物園、ＫＯＫＯの住んでいる地域からでもタクシーで2~30分で行ける場所にあります。
東京で言うと、上野動物園みたいな感じでしょうか・・・
それでは、Johanna先生のレポートをご紹介します！
My Baby’s First Visit to the Zoo ～息子の初動物園～
Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden is the oldest zoo in Asia that opened on July 25, 1959.
It’s most famous resident is the gentle giant elephant named Mali.
She is a 40-year-old, female and lone Asian elephant in the Philippines.
She was born in Sri Lanka.She was a gift to former First Lady Imelda Marcos by the Sri Lankan government.
When I was a kid, I was really amazed to see such a wonderful creature and I’m glad that my baby got the chance to see Mali too.
マニラ動物園・植物園は1959年7月25日にオープンしたアジアで最も古い動物園です。It’s most famous resident is the gentle giant elephant named Mali.

ここはマリという名前の大人しくて大きな象がいることで有名です。
マリは40歳・メスのアジア象です。
マリはスリランカで生まれました。
マリはスリランカ政府からイメルダ・マルコス（マルコス元フィリピン大統領夫人）へ贈られた物でした。
私は子供の頃、こんなにも素晴らしい動物を見て驚き、またこうして息子もマリに会うことができ、嬉しく思いました。
Inside the reptile house we saw different kinds of snakes, lizards and tortoise.
My baby is very surprised to see this monitor lizard.
爬虫類のコーナーでは、様々な種類のヘビやトカゲ、カメを見ました。My baby is very surprised to see this monitor lizard.
私の息子は、monitor lizard（オオトカゲ）を見てとても驚いていました。
He also enjoyed seeing horses, goat and other domestic animals. He had seen different bird species like the largest bird ostrich,Philippine eagle, Luzon bleeding-heart pigeons, storks and blue-naped parrot.
Other animals that he’d seen are hippopotamus, Bengal tigers, Japanese macaque and different species of fish.

また、largest bird ostrich（一番大きな鳥であるダチョウ）やPhilippine eagle（フィリピンワシ）、Luzon bleeding-heart pigeons（ヒムネバト）、storks（コウノトリ）、blue-naped parrot（青い首のオウム）も見ました。
そしてhippopotamus（カバ）やBengal tigers（ベンガルトラ）、Japanese macaque（ニホンザル）、様々な種類の魚も見ました。
We were so happy to see about 800 animals in one day! Manila Zoo taught us the importance of animals and plants.
So let’s take good care of them!
私たちは1日で約800種類の動物を見ることができ、とても嬉しかったです！マニラ動物園は、私たちに動物や植物の大切さを教えてくれました。So let’s take good care of them!
さあ、皆さんも動物や植物を大切にしましょう。
この動物園、50年以上の歴史があるとは驚きです。
おそらく、設立当初は回りに何も無かったのではないかと思いますが、
現在では回りに高層ビルが立ち並んでいます。
マニラの歴史とともに歩んできた、都会のオアシスと言った感じでしょうか。
近くに住んでいるのに、１回も行ったことがないので、今度行ってみようかなぁ・・・
