Jay先生の「マニラの北へ」旅行記

本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、Jay（ジェイ）先生です。
Jay（ジェイ）先生、Cagayan Valley（カガヤン・バレー）という場所に行って来たみたいですね。
どんな場所かと思い調べてみましたが、フィリピンの最北端にある地域のようです。
講師の旅行記の中で、初めて出てくる場所ですね。
それでは、Jay先生のレポートをご紹介します！
Going North of Manila ～マニラの北へ～
Last October, my family went on a short vacation to Cagayan Valley.
It’s a 13 – 15 hour drive north of Manila.
It was an adventure.
We passed by different municipalities and very nice places like the Bangui Wind Farm, but we didn’t have the time to stop very often because we didn’t want to be caught by the sunset.

去年の10月、私たち家族はCagayan Valley（カガヤン・バレー）へ小旅行に出かけました。
ここはマニラから北へ車で13～15時間ほどの場所です。
それは冒険でした。
私たちは色々な町やBangui（バンギ）風車群など素敵な場所を通過しましたが、夕暮れまでに目的地に到着したかったため頻繁に立ち寄る時間がありませんでした。
We only stayed there for 3 days.
We toured the area around my wife’s ancestral house.
It was a very different experience. We used bicycle to get around. The air was so fresh.
There wasn’t any sign of pollution anywhere.
It would also make you feel guilty to use motorized vehicles.

私たちはそこへ3日間滞在しました。
そして、妻の先祖代々の家の周りを散策しました。
それは、いつもとは違う経験となりました。私たちは移動のために自転車を使いました。
空気はとてもきれいでした。
汚染の兆しなど、どこにもありませんでした。
エンジンの付いた車を使用することさえ気が咎めるほどでした。
When the time to come home arrived, there was a slight feeling of sadness and regret.
We wanted to stay longer.
We would miss the food freshly prepared; the coconuts that were picked if we wanted fruit juices; the fishes caught just right behind the house where there is a river; and drink natural drinking water. We hope to be back there for another vacation.

家に帰る時間が来た時は、かすかな悲しみと残念な想いがありました。
私たちはもう少し長く滞在したかったです。
フルーツジュースが飲みたい時に収穫したココナッツや家の裏にある川で獲った魚、そして自然の水など新鮮なままの食べ物や飲み物が懐かしく思えることでしょう。
また、別の休暇でもう一度訪れたいと思います。
Cagayan Valleyは、Tuguegarao（トゥゲガラオ）という場所が州都になっています。
今でもTuguegaraoは、観光客相手の商売としてではなく、庶民の交通手段として、馬車が走っているようです。
風情があっていいですね。
4月にはホーリーウィークというフィリピンの大型連休があるので、その時期にこのレポートのようなナイスなリゾートに行ってみようかなぁ・・・。
ただ、ホーリーウィークは街の店が全部閉まるらしいので、「行ったけど何も出来ませんでした」という話になりかねないので、注意したいと思います。
