本日は、hanaso講師の英文レポートをご紹介します。
今回のレポートを書いて頂いた先生は、４回目の登場になるMaeAnn（メイアン）先生です。
MaeAnn先生、俳句に関するレポートを書いて頂いたこともありましたが、今回は、動物愛護家の話を書いて頂きました！
うーん、なんか記事の一つ一つに教養の高さを感じます。

For Animal Lovers ～動物を愛する人へ～
My daughter Jam has a pet female dog named Buffy. Buffy is a gift from Jam’s friend.
私の娘・ジャムはBuffy（バッフィー）という名前のメスの犬を飼っています。バッフィーはジャムの友達からのプレゼントです。
On the first week of January, my daughter brought Buffy to the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center Clinic (PARC) for its first vaccines.
PARC is located inside the compound of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a volunteer-based non-government organization for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

1月の第一週目に、娘はバッフィーの最初のワクチン接種のためPAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center Clinic (PAWS動物リハビリセンタークリニック)へ連れて行きました。
病院は、ボランティアを中心とした動物虐待防止のための民間組織であるPhilippine Animal Welfare Society （PAWS:フィリピン動物愛護福祉団体）の中にあります。

この病院は、虐待や放置されている状況から動物を救い出すための一時的な避難所となっています。
PAWS（フィリピン動物愛護福祉団体）は動物を健康な状態に戻し、彼らを愛してくれる飼い主を探します。
PARC allows visitors to non-restricted areas such as the dog runs, the catteries and the memorial wall.
On the day of our visit, there were 256 cats and 74 dogs in the shelter.
We saw volunteers preparing food for the animals. We said hello to dogs in a run and also greeted cats in the catteries, in a cat house and on the porch.

私たちが訪れた日には256匹の猫と74匹の犬が保護されていました。私たちはボランティアスタッフの人たちが動物のえさを準備しているところも見学しました。また、そこにいる犬や猫に声をかけました。
Since its founding in 1954, PAWS has advocated to pet lovers the animal adoption of rescued animals. One of its supporters is the Philippine movie and television star and singer Sharon Cuneta, who has adopted the dog, Rosie.
1954年に創設されて以来、PAWSは救い出された動物たちを動物愛護家たちに引き取ってもらう活動をしています。
この活動の支持者の一人でもある、フィリピンの映画・テレビスター・歌手のSharon Cuneta（シャロン・クネタ）はRosie（ローシー）という犬を引き取っています。
日本ではペットを持て余した結果、保健所で安易に殺処分をしてしまうケースが非常に多く、一部で社会問題になっていると聞きます。日本にはこの問題を活動する機関があり、ボランティアの方達が活動していると思いますが、フィリピンでも問題の種類は違えど、ペットに関する社会問題を解決する機関があり、動物愛護家の方たちがボランティアで活動されているようですね。
MaeAnn先生のレポートは勉強させられるものが多いっす。ＫＯＫＯも、もっとフィリピン社会について勉強したいと思います・・・。
