A WEEKEND ADVENTURE by Jake Flores ～週末の冒険 ジェイク・フローレス～
I wanted to go on a road trip to unwind.
Normally, I would take a trip south of Manila to destinations like Tagaytay or Batangas, both accessible by land. But since I wanted to be a bit more adventurous and welcome a change of scenery, I decided to go north ? to Subic.

私は気分転換のため、車を走らせ旅に出ることにしました。
通常であれば、マニラの南にあるTagaytay（タガイタイ）やBatangas（バタンガス）といったアクセスしやすい場所を目指しますが、今回はもっと冒険心をあおるような場所で、車窓の風景が変わる様子を楽しみたかったので、目的地を北のスービック（Subic）に決めました。
I then booked a resort online, hopped into my car with a few friends and began our 2-hour road trip.
On the way to Subic, it was such a pleasant change to see wide-ranging landscapes, which were very rare in the cramped cities of Metro Manila.
Truly a refreshing sight for sore eyes.

リゾート地のホテルをインターネットで予約し、友達数人を誘って、車で2時間の旅を始めました。
Subic（スービック）までの道は、すばらしい風景の移り変わりの連続で混雑を極める首都・マニラでは見ることの出来ない光景でした。
まさに疲れた目を癒すのに十分なものでした。
Upon arrival at the resort, we were excited to see beautifully decorated villas around a huge swimming pool.

リゾートに到着し、まず、大きなプールの前に立つ美しく彩られた建物に魅せられました。
そして、これが私達の午後の素晴らしいアクティビティとなりました。
Subic is also well-known for its imported and tax-free goods that are shipped in through its ports.
Naturally, we spent a good part of our trip shopping and taking advantage of cheaper prices on chocolates, perfumes, and other items which cost almost 50% less than in the cities.

スービックは、港を通じて運ばれてくる輸入品や免税品を購入できることでもよく知られています。
チョコレートや香水などの商品が都会で購入する場合の約半額ということもあって、自然と今回の旅行の大半をショッピングで費やすことになりました。
Overall, we felt so satisfied with our trip. It was the perfect weekend adventure.
最後に、今回の旅行はとても満足しました。まさに最高の週末でした。
スービックは有名な観光地ですが、免税品が購入できるとは知りませんでした。
以前、米軍基地があった関係かも知れませんね。
スービックは、ビーチも非常に美しいと聞くので、今度買い物ツアー兼ねて行ってみたいです・・・
